2008 Golf Course Maintenance Schedules

Aerification is the process when
the greens are lightly punched and usually top-dressed
with a light layer of sand. The greens may roll
a little slow and bumpy for 7-10 days. The fairways,
tees and roughs may also be punched.
Overseeding begins with a preparation stage that
usually starts about 3-4 days before the actual closing of the golf
course. The course will be scalped of the bermuda grass in preparation
to plant the winter grass. Once the winter grass
is planted, the course is usually closed for 2 weeks. Once re-opened,
the conditions will be playable, but slow and damp for about 10-14
days. Generally the courses that normally offer the "90 degree"
cart path rule will be "cart path only" for 30-60 days
(depending on how the process takes and the weather conditions).
